Introduction
Side
by Side is a small supported volunteering project,
offering a variety of work opportunities to people
living and recovering from Mental Ill-health. We are
involved in lots of community based activities and
also provide valuable social opportunities. Please
have a look at what Side by Side does and if you are
interested in joining or using our services, please

What
we Do
The
Admin Team
We
meet two afternoons at our base
in Honiton where we photocopy, collate leaflets
and newsletters, and organise mailouts for a variety
of voluntary and community organisations. The atmosphere
is friendly and relaxed, tea and healthy snacks are
an essential part of our sessions. We are also running
a number of craft sessions and hope to sell our creations
at local events. If your organisation would like to
use our services, please contact the Project Coordinator.

The
Escot Events
Every
Wednesday morning, we go to the beautiful grounds of Escot
House and participate in a variety of activities
including tool recycling, willow sculptures, grounds
maintenance, green wood working and enjoying being
in an outdoor environment. For more information, click

Canonteign
Falls
In
partnership with the Devon
Wildlife Trust, we are working at the site of England's
highest waterfall to create a forest garden. Activities
include: Tree and hedge planting, willow sculptures,
step building and walks around this fantastic location.

Other
Activities
We
are also involved with a number of other projects,
including creating garden spaces at RIO, allotment
and gardening work as well as continuing our Beach
Cleans at Branscombe. If you have a project you think
Side by Side could help you with, please contact
Liz

Social
Activities
Once
a month, we have a group social activity. This could
be visiting a local tourist attraction, having a facial
or massage, going for a tea and cakes at a local cafe.
For instance, in March 2006, we went to Cockington
Court in South Devon and we will be visiting Buckfast
Otter and Butterfly Sanctuary. These activities are
subsidised to our volunteers. Every activity aims to
enable us to enjoy ourselves, have fun and provide
opportunities to learn new skills and build up self-confidence.
