Viva! and other publications, and nationally via the National
Volunteering website www.do-it.org.uk We
can also offer expert advice and support on attracting the ‘right’ volunteers

do-it.org.uk was launched in 2001 with the first, and still
the only, national database of volunteering opportunities in
the UK. The majority of opportunities on do-it come from local
Volunteer Centres in England. These organisations have been
provided with hardware, software and training by do-it so that
they can upload their vacancies onto the do-it database. When
a Volunteer Centre uploads opportunities onto the website,
they will become the first point of contact for prospective
volunteers and will then pass all enquiries on to the relevant
organisation.
do-it.org.uk is part of the registered charity YouthNet,
a non-profit-making organisation. The database is free
of charge
for use by people who want to volunteer, as we believe
that volunteering should be free to the user.

diversity and creative programme management, these authors – many
of whom are published here for the first time – write
