Devon Volunteer Support Agency (EDVSA) and is accredited
with Volunteering England and
is incorporated within East Devon Volunteer
Support Agency (EDVSA). Volunteer Centre East Devon is
also a member of Volunteer Centres Devon, the Consortium
of all accredited Volunteer Centres in Devon (www.volunteercentre.net/devon).
Volunteering
England is
the national volunteer development agency for England which
came into operation on 1 April 2004. It was formed as a result
of the coming together of The Consortium on Opportunities
for Volunteering, The National Centre for Volunteering and
Volunteer Development England. VE works to promote volunteering
as a powerful force for change, both for those who volunteer
and for the wider community.
Volunteer
Centre East Devon is based in Honiton but is
responsible for carrying out the six core functions
across the whole of East Devon, from the Devon/Dorset
border
to the boundary with Exeter. The most visible function
of a Volunteer Centre is inevitably brokerage but we
can offer much, much more support to organisations
and volunteers alike, including advice around creating
new
volunteering opportunities and promotion of good practice
in volunteer management.
