Are
you confident and sociable with great listening skills?
Do you like the idea of supporting
someone
who is less confident to achieve their goals? Would you like
to help someone else get involved in volunteering? Why not
join this exciting project which will give you the opportunity
to meet new people, learn new skills and get involved in
your local community.
The
Sidekick Buddying Project aims
to support people who are less confident - for instance,
because they experience mental ill-health - to get involved
in volunteering by matching them with a Buddy. As a volunteer
Buddy, you will assist another Volunteer in their volunteering
placement, boosting their confidence in their own abilities.
You might meet up with them once a week for a chat to help
them to prepare for their volunteering session and then accompany
them to, for example a gardening or admin project. Whatever
volunteering task the Supported Volunteer is undertaking,
you will help them to achieve it.

but
you will need a willingness to get involved,
attend training & supervision and to learn
new skills. Appropriate expenses will be reimbursed.
