A Christmas Message from Charlotte Hanson, CEO

Posted by sandra at 10:43 on 5 Dec 2017

2017 has once again been a period of change and uncertainty for many of us who work to support those most vulnerable in our community. We have seen the withdrawal of services across the health system in East Devon and the loss of some key anchor organisations in our community. But we have also seen a real energy amongst our volunteers, staff and communities to continue to find new ways of providing the support that is needed. As a snapshot: Cranbrook community projects continue to grow from strength to strength with initiatives such as Incredible Edible, Cranbrook Pot Luck and the Annual Fun Run. The community in Sidmouth have launched Sid Valley Help to provide a range of needed services.
At Action East Devon we celebrated the end of our successful Branching Out Project and supported clients to find placements elsewhere such as in the new Budleigh Hub. The Project ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to keep support for young people going through its centre in Chard. And a new pilot Passing Matters was launched, which provides a range of support opportunities to improve the end of life experience for people and their carers. Action East Devon would like to thank all those people and organisations who have helped us to achieve these successes whether as volunteers, donors or partners.
