DACVS East Devon Trustee of the Year 2011

To celebrate Trustees Week 2011 DACVS (The Devon ‘Association of Council for Voluntary Service)  in conjunction with The Devon Community Foundation looked for a trustee who had made a significant contribution to their organisation and the community it serves in the past year. East Devon winner is Dr Claire Donovan, from The Poltimore House Trust.

Amy and Jonathan from The Poltimore House Trust had this to say about their nominee:

“Claire has been the driving force for turning Poltimore House Trust into a Trust that is in a position to take on projects. She has driven the trust to take calculated risks in order to move forwards. This is beginning to pay off as we see funds coming in, a project that is now socially engaged and a heritage site which looks forward to new and exciting futures. Claire, along with other Trustees, has re-sketched the scope of the project: the way in which we are able to imagine a future where Poltimore House is a centre for the Arts and Business, volunteers and the community, learning and training, is an uplifting and possible thought. “

“Claire joining the Trust marked the beginning of an important period of change, and her tireless efforts have made us ready to enter into new partnerships and take on new challenges.  Her enthusiasm for the project, and her motivational ‘can-do’ attitude are an example to us all, and to choose from her individual achievements is to underestimate the enormous commitment she has made.  Claire frequently ensures that we recognise the work of others involved in the project, yet some formal recognition of her hard work is long overdue and could not be more deserved.”
